Poor old mam again. I must share something that keeps an old man young. This year the holidays were super excellent. Couple of months ago I got a call from my granddaughter! She ask"grandpa would you mind if we get married on your birthday!"
My birthday is the 30 th of December and of course I was very happy about it. We drove to Las Vegas on the day after Christmas to prepare for the wedding at the Las Vegas Temple,
I must add Christmas Day we had the most pleasant lunch with our son Jeff and daughter Janelle. I enjoyed so much the one on one time with them. We also had the most special waitress at the Black Bear restaurant that knew Janelle . As a dad it doesn't get any nicer.
Our drive to Las Vegas was most pleasant and we were pleased to have our son-in-law mom ride with us.
Now at 84 it was still a great day. We arrived at our daughters home about 5 and was so pleased to be their and greeted by grand children and great grandchildren! The next 4 days was so pleasant to see my daughter and her husband Richard and their children and grandchildren helping prepare for the wedding. To grandpa to set back and watch everyone pitching in and doing their best to make sure Taliah and Ben had a wonderful reception after the wedding. The part that really made grandpa smile was the effort that each did that helped make the big reception be a success!
Just being around my daughter and her husband makes grandpa so comfortable and pleased! I must add the blessings of being with family is the greatest!
Even the great grandchildren were helping to make the reception a success. I must add Ben and his family were working just as hard and had their reception area perfect.
I pledge to you my friends! Having you for family and friends means everything to me! If I can ever be that friend or family member to visit or help you where I can please remember that grandpa Jack is available!
I was shown and I know that just talking or knowing it matters means a lot!
add one more experience to make me realize other's feelings!
My granddaughter and her husband have bought some property out in the desert. I was asked to go see it before and I didn't go! This trip Peggy said we needed to go see the property. And I finally agreed. It is50 miles from my daughters home and Mattie and Vernon planned an evening for family. As we were leaving to go back to our daughters home my granddaughter came over and gave grandpa a big hug and said thanks. It was most special hug and grandpa will never forget! I was ashamed of my self for not realizing how important this was to my granddaughter!
The day after new years we drove back home and to cap off our holiday season Jeff and Janelle made a special birthday dinner for Peggy and even made her favorite chocolate mint cake! So you can see why at 84 I had a most memorable holiday season!
May I wish for each of you a most happy and prosperous new year and please remember "YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE "
